You said the magic word, disqualified, and it reminded me of another incident.
Now I knew this guy back when we were hand on in school out on site at the reactor, A1W, Idaho in this case. We shared a house, so you can say, ya, he was more than a "I recall his name"
Well, he was an RO, one of the 'hand on the reactor control rods' guys. And then one day he either really went a bit wacko, which I can believe, or he had had enough and decided to do a stunt on purpose. Personally I give him a 70/30 being a bit nutty. So, one day out at sea, he threw all this clothes overboard (along with his radiation detection badge) and the marines had to chase him down and catch him.
So, he ended up in 'sick bay' for an extended stay until we reached port where someone official could examine him. lol, turns out they were then short of RO people, so they reinstated him as qualified to sit the bench and stuck him back down in the control room. haha hah aaha.
military intelligence.
