Well as many of you know I have not been in Age of Conan for quite a while. The reasons for this are many and varied but I will focus on the main one here.
I have moved to Warhammer Online!
Age of Conan failed to live up to its potential and at my advanced age of 38 I can not sit around and wait for a game to delivery. Hard enough as it is to keep my joystick straight without all the bugs AOC kept tossing about === but I digress.
Open Beta starts tonight at Midnight---Target has Open Beta pre-orders for 0.99 if you can find them.
Anyway I hope I have not pissed off too many people but I am a slave to my desires and AOC is not doing it for me anymore. I have high hopes for Warhammer but only time will tell. I do believe it will be kickass.
I do feel bad that I recommended AOC to everyone, especially to Nate, Corrina and Marcus, but in the beginning it was all it was hyped to be. Who would have know that a few short months later it would self-implode.
Hope to see you all in Warhammer but if you do decide to join the War it will be by thine own accord and not my recommendation.

Lemme know how ya like it. I am in MMO limbo atm as not much is really stirring my attention. I love the warhammer world(though 40k better) but I am not sure how I would like all the PVP although its more RVR DAOC style. I am more a PVE raider type myself so I might try a trial or something down the road.
I would try the open beta but I am not buying it. Open beta should mean that shit is free! Every game should have a damn free, no strings open beta for a week. I am not pre ordering shit.

Well I have been in open beta now for a week and I am hooked. Way better than WOW by far. The best feature I have ran across is the public quests.
The public quests are great as you can join in at any time. Once the quest is complete everyone is given a treasure box icon that allows them to roll dice for a chance to win 1 of 6 treasure chests. The great thing about this is that the system assigns bonus points to the random number generated for people who have contributed more toward completing the quest. That way you stand a better chance of getting a reward for being in the public quest from the beginning instead of the peep that joins in at the end for the boss fight.
If you happen to be one of the lucky top six you get a very very nice reward. I have seen nice armor and weapons, some serious coin and unique crafting items that only drop from public quests.
The XP is also great which makes the public quests worth doing even if you don't get luck and win a reward.
The public quests remind me of Lost Dungeons of Norrath. I honestly feel that a group of 4 to 6 well trained peeps can reap some serious rewards for playing their toons like only we can.
I must say that the RVR is also great. I played DAOC for a while and RVR is going to be what makes this game shine over all the competition.
The PVE is also well done and the questing system is intuitive, worthwhile and adds to the experience. With all the tombs of knowledge located all over the world you never know what you might learn. Nothing like back story as you quest.
As I mentioned before I will not recommend this to anyone especially after the AOC fuck up.
With that said, I will be in WAR for some time to come.

Sounds cool. I might try ot down the road. I got board so I went and got 2 WoW battlechests and I am trying out that recruit a friend stuff via 2boxing. All I have to say is keyclone is a prog I wish I had back in EQ. You launch the 2 WoW's through keyclone and it has a zillion options that lets ya basically set up macro's/bindings on one keyboard. You can set it up to run on 2 comps as well and its legal to use by blizz standards. The triple XP from quests and mobs lets me level fast but not get burnt out so by the time I get to high level I will not want to wipe my shitty ass with the WoW cd's and burn them with a blow torch. I am defiantly going to let WAR mature for a while before I jump in:) I might try the WoW xpac for shits and giggles as well. I actually got into the Stargate Worlds friends and family Beta so I am kinda checking it out and playing it part time even though it is very early on in the development but like the idea of a FPS type MMO. I always liked the idea of Planetside but did not like the game itself. Keep me posted on Warhammer and enjoy

Great to hear that you got into beta for Stargate Worlds. I have been a HUGE Stargate fan since the original movie. I am definitely going to check this out when it goes live.
Let me know how you like it.
On a side note -- who do you know in the Stargate World that got you into the friends and family beta. I might want an introduction someday

To be honest I do not know anyone and tend to be an asshole so who knows. I did however sign up on the boards right after the forum launched and I think they are hooking people up who go in early backing the game. A lot of the stuff now is server testing and the game itself is rather basic as they really want to get the servers right for this kind of a mmo. I would recommend just making sure you have a forum account and sign up for beta as there is always a chance to get in. Frankly I am afraid to post to much and try to be low key so I do not get kicked out It is kinda cool being in a beta so early though. At this point the only have the servers up a few times a week for the evening so its still real, real early. I have never been in a F&F beta so if I have a chance to get someone in(which I do not know if it is possible but some games do ask if anyone knows good testers) I will let ya know. I really hope this game turns out because I love stargate. The only other MMO's that would beat it for me would have to be either Warhammer 40k MMO which I guess is in the works or a KOTOR era MMO which I also heard is coming down the pike but they will be years away at best. On a side note I have been getting 12 levels a evening doing the WoW recruit a friend thing with these 2 accounts and it almost seems like I am cheating lol.
